We just got back from a day of riding and trail blazing at Rush. It's definitely worth the drive. I cannot think of another 7500 acre privately owned park and the group of guys that are running the place are great. We cut 4 new trails that will definitely be a challenge. I cannot wait to get back there with my buggy.

That's cool. Having a place that is good 3.20 hrs from my house would be killer. Can't wait to check it out.

Spoke with Jon from the park tonight. He is going to show us around on Friday and Saturday. He can get there about 12:00 Friday to start the ride. Keep your eyes open, they would like our input on what kind of trials to make. If you see something, we can most likely make it a trail.

Can't wait.

I'm still not 100 % committed, but don't rule me out yet. I'm asking for additional vacation tomorrow. If that is approved, I'll go Friday. Busy week getting ready for vacation, and my tranny (lock up and overdrive) is getting on the edge in the tow rig. It will make that short trip, but need it for the camper and boat a couple day's later and my TJ is still down undergoing an engine and tranny overhaul.

I'm heading down to hook up the trailer and load the truck now. What time do you all plan to arrive at Rush?

Glad you can make it. Guessing between 10:30-11:00. Look for a white box truck with cincyofffroad.com across the windshied. See you tomorrow.

So we can take care of our permits with Jon when he get's there, or do I need to try to pick one up around Grayson? Either way is fine, but it would be better at the park, since I am only going to be there Friday.

This place has the potential to be the next Harlan or better... This place is 3X the size of Harlan and privately run so opening new trails is easier. When we were riding around with John, he told us to open up whatever we wanted as a trail. They have everything you could possibly want in terms of terrain; Rocks, Ledges, Ravines, plenty of hills that could be the next popular bounty hill on youtube. They just need some traffic and some help building the trails. The land has been ridden by quads and sxs for a long time, but they need the perspective of the truck/jeep/ buggie perspective to identify, open, and run the trails. On Saturday we opened up one new ravine, a rock garden, and played in a ravine that none of us could get up. We only saw about 1/2 of the park or less.

The folks running the place are very nice and genuinely seem like they want this place to become a destination offroad park that can challenge the biggest baddest rigs and still give the stockers plenty to keep them busy. Its not comparable to Harlan yet in terms of trails or camping, but It can be.

hey Kevin did you pick a name for that new ravine?

It was good to meet you guys too. Got a few more faces to go with forum names now. You would've liked that new trail we made up the ravine. At one point youre almost completely on your passenger side as you're going through. That other ravine we couldn't make up is going to be a nasty trail.

Acre wise it's about the same as Harlan. Harlan does have the avantage because it's a big mountain. Rush has some big rocks that need uncovered. If they keep doing what they're doing, it will be a good place to go that is fairly close to home. It's well marked, and the GPS file you can download is awesome. The map is color coded to the trail rating. There's no way to get lost with this map.

Jon said I get to name the new trail. I think "Damage" is a suitable name. I left my doors on because it was supposed to rain, which it didn't. I ended up pressing in the passenger side door to the point the window broke inside the door. Jimmy C dented in his passenger door frame pretty bad. Jim B probably got damage but couldn't tell.

I have a bunch of gopro vids. It's gonna take some time to edit it all and post. We had a good time, but the heat did us all in.

I agree with Jim that the place has a huge potential and I really liked all the terrain there... IMHO it is hard to compare the place to Harlan... There has been logging, mining, and who knows what else happening on Black Mountain for more than 50 years... I also thought it was really cool that we could just say "hey lets try going up that ravine/creek bed" and there we went...

Definitely a good group of folks running the place and a big thanks to John for showing us around on Friday and Saturday... John also told us he would be more than happy to show us around again anytime we come down, just give him a call...

The heat was definitely a challenge when we were on top of the hills or out in the sun... If we were in the woods it was still hot but the shade made it a little more bearable... I can say for myself, if i had not had A/C in my cruiser i don't know how long i would have been able to stand it...

I have a few videos i will get posted, but here are my pics...
