Shackels, Front Or Rear???
OK HOPEFULLY GETTING READY TO PREPAIR FOR MY SOLID AXLE SWAP ON THE RANGER. HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON HOW I NEED TO DO EVERYTHING. GOING TO BE USEING LEAF SPRINGS INSTEAD OF COILS, MAINLY FOR SIMPLISITY. BUT ONLY THING STILL RUNNING THROUGH MY HEAD IS, DO I PUT THE SHACKELS UP FRONT LIKE JEEPS HAVE EM, OR SHOULD I MOUNT THEM ON THE REAR?? WHATS YALLS OPONION AND EXPERIENCES WITH SHACKEL LOCATION?

I like them in the back better.
good give you a little better ride You are less likly to bend a spring does no shackle hanging down to hit soemthing you trying to climb up on. Bad can cause the front end to "dive" when brakeing hard. depending on frame might have to use shims and or turn knukles to get drive shaft angle and caster right tires need more space between them and the firewall since the tire will move up and back now. Need more travel in your drive shaft. |
