Have fun. I lived in Rifle CO for a few years and still have many friends out there. Mountain Offroad is right off of exit 90. If you run into any problems around that area post up and I'll find someone to help. While in Moab be sure to stop by Zax for some great pizza.

ooo Bummer about the trailer. KS is lovely this time of ...well, no never mind. It all looks the same. Tumbleweeds is the major form of entertainment.

I'm hoping to go back in May, 2009. There is unbelievable primitive camping in the parks there. I don't think a day trip on the trails needs supplemental fuel unless you have a small fuel cell. Water is what is usually in short supply. I rented a Jeep last year and posted these photos over at TS.

i will go spring next year, not during EJS, but prolly a couple weeks after.
Here's my shots from last trip. http://www.complete4x4.com/cgi-bin/I.../08-01-04_Moab It's 25 hours drive time about... 2 days. We usually hit denver on the first day in 18 hours, then take the next day to go thru the mountains.

i would love to go out there, cant seem to drum up any interest in my buddies. i drove 9 hours to tellico just to have our organizer decide that one day (6 hours trail time)was enough. yeah, it stunk. if i could get a couple of guys here to go, id be there. Would be the trip of a lifetime, for sure.
ps- those photo's are awesome! |

went out in 98' and rode with the red rock club. great guys, take you gps with you. can get turned around easily. Have not made it back since. :( great trails and the scenery is one of a kind. I hit the first Isuzu moab trip a week or two after the EJS. That thing is just a mess. (if you want to really wheel) Load up the trailers and hit the road well worth the trip.
