Dang ice got me...

Well the dang ice got me on my way home from work today. Out of work early, off to WalMart at Milford (doing my part to help the economy); going home via entrance ramp onto 275S. Hit a patch and lost it. Spun I have no idea how many times, across all 3 lanes and hit the guardrail twice-ish. Stopped on the right shoulder; looking at traffic. Moved car enough to look and front bumper pushed in enough that it's hitting tire. Well now what should I do, as I sit in the rain. I did the only thing I could think of...and 'phone a friend'. Little while later, Armstrong and Pater show up trailer in tow, get me home ok, and take my x90 back to Armstrong's shop to see damage.

All in all, I'm ok. Sore and bet tomorrow is gonna be worse (Merry Christmas). While waiting, I got to watch 4 vehicles spin out as well as meet a nice State Patrolman, who was kind enough to write me a $95 ticket 2 1/2 hrs after the accident because I was a dumbass and stayed there, (my bad, I was warned it could happen). But it could have been much worse so I'm thankful, although my cute little purple car is hurt now. Here are a few pics from the camera phone.

To Armstrong & Pater -- You guys can't imagine how relieved I was to see the big sexxy black truck pull up behind me, trailer in tow...knowing my support had arrived. Thank you doesn't begin to cover it, but it's a start. Thank you thank you both!!!

Is that a "failure to control" ticket?

That's nothing but a bull**** money grab from a city/state that's in your pocket too much as it is!

They'd have to make me pay that one..

Fight the ticket. Threaten to sue them for repairs due to lack of road preparations on their part. If you go to court, it will probably get dropped.

When the hell did you get that car?

Highway Patrol is nothing but a business and they were making sure they would get their money for the annual pizza party. He was going right on down the line handing everyone stopped tickets for failure to control. Guess there were no serious injury wrecks or matters to deal with. He seemed to be a miserable fella and I wanted to wish him a merry christmas but he quickly left as I pulled up. Glad you were alright Tjjeepjeep and looks like the purple wonder can be saved!

P.S. Getting to do some urban wheeling drifting with the trailer on I-275 was awesome!

The Columbus radio station said to trade insurance info if you had hit another car then call the H.P. and report it after you got home. So what were they planning on doing, sending tickets to people through the mail???????

Thanks everyone. I naively thought he was stopping to see if I was ok; then asked for registration yada...and realized not so much. The worst part of the ticket is that if I'd made the decision to drive a potentially unsafe vehicle on the highway (cause how the heck would I know); I would have been spared the $95. That's what is getting me. I was still there 2 1/2 hrs after it, so my 'fault' obviously.

I've had the car since August (I think); admired it since it first showed up at a CORE meeting. It's fun to drive and a 4x4 that gets 28 mpg. Ain't no way I'd get rid of it.

have no fear she will live to see another day. the quarter panel is the worst it will need to be pulled but finding parts for these cars is a hole other issue. all in all the fact that you were ok (and that the zuki was able to drive away ) is the important thing but the fact that the state trooper didnt ask how you were just that he wanted another ticket to put on his resume is just plain ass. what happened to PROTECT and serve must have been free coffee during that part of the class

Sorry about your luck, but glad you're OK; it's easier to fix cars than people.

Best wishes for the New Year.

Same drive train as the Trackers and Sidekicks.
You can even use the Tracker lift kit's.
Flyin-J has 3 of them lifted and on Tractor tires!!

He has the tires off of them right now but as you can see he races them and is not real easy on them! lol

Yes, that blows. You were looking out for the wellbeing of all, and you got screwed for it... Sorry about the luck.

That's the part that really gets me boiling. The city/county/state are so inept that they can't provide one of the ONLY services that actually benefit most taxpayers.

And then they decide that not only is it not their fault that the roads are impassable, but it's actually YOUR fault, and they'll take it upon themselves to punish you for what they didn't do.

And the punishment? ANOTHER $100 you get to pay the very people who aren't doing what we're paying em to do in the first place!

Sorry for the rant, did I make you feel any better about it?

Oh, and Merry Christmas!

Robert

Good progress being made on repairs. I stopped by the shop yesterday to watch and learn about body work. (Frame rack...very very cool stuff.) Chris from CK Customs is taking good care of it. Looks like parts are gonna be the tricky thing. Scott/flxratd is working on headlight assembly and everything else, so we'll see what happens there. Here's a few more pics (camera phone):

Glad you're OK, Lisa.

I try to restrain myself on these ticket posts, because I can be a PITA is a big hurry when I'm not careful. But, I'm with the rest of this crowd on the failure to control ticket. First of all, the cop is supposed to cite you when he concludes to a reasonable certainty that your failure to control constituted a violation of the law. How he does that 2 1/2 hours after a wreck that he did not see and no one witnessed but you is the problem. On the one hand, you could tell him to pound salt and that he could read the facts in your Ohio Crash Report that you are required to file within 24 or 48 hours of the wreck and can be wrtten by your lawyer so there is nothing in there that would serve as the basis for a ticket. Or, you can be cooperative and tell him what happened and have him slap a ticket on you.

Frankly, I think the police make a mistake in these failure to control tickets. If a client calls me on the cell phone from the car and asks what to do, there is only one answer: politely tell the cop that since he is investigating a violation of the law where you are the suspect, he can talk to your lawyer or read the Ohio Crash Report when you get around to filing it.

Eventually, no one will talk to police if every time they open their mouths (which no one is required to do) they get charged.

progress is being made ... know some parts came in today for it. which for those that don't know: a 'rare' car merely means parts are gonna cost someone to get.

Well, today was the date to appear in court for the ticket. First on the docket, plead not guilty and I get to go back 1/21 now for a trial before a Magistrate. Oh the joys...
