Are you going to link the front? or keep the leaf springs? running leafs to help with body roll from the air shocks?

Front will stay leaf for now. And yes, they will work well as a sway bar for the airshocks. When the front does get linked, the rig will be lowered another 2-3 inches as well. The springs are dictating the current ride height.

Yep, somebody definitely spent a ton of time doing that. I've got about 30 minutes and maybe $10 in materials on my welded 14-bolt. So far so good going on 8-9 years now.

That mini-spool definitely looks beefy and I understand why some people go that route. Guess I'm just too cheap.

I just feel that all too often, "cheap now equals expensive later."

I think there is a distinct line between "cheaper" and "less quality/reliability"......often they go together but not always. 78Buford has also been running a welded D70 for years with 42" tires, 500+ ft.-lb. big-block, 6k+ lb. truck. I've seen all 4 tires bouncing off the ground with his foot on the floor (5k rpm) on rocks many times and it's never failed. Maybe we are just lucky, but I don't think so. I have seen poorly executed welded diffs fail (usually because they are not welded enough). But can't really fault somebody for wanting an actual spool especially when it's not my money. ;)

I'm not disputing that welding works. Anything can fail, even a spool. I just know that the diff i welded would be the one to come apart! ha!

Not that i don't trust my welding skills, just my luck. And on that note, I think i would weld my own diffs, but not the diffs on a customer's rig. If my **** fawks up, that's my own fault and should have known better. If my customers rig eat is, then it's my reputation.

its a hole different thought process when its your business and reputation. even your best friend will talk crap when they want you to cut corners and its them that are holding up the group.

im not sayin back yard is bad ive done it myself but when its your business i have to say that its not the best alternative.

Been a bit since i updated this... the thing is damn near done now...

Tube fenders made, utilizing stock inner fender to keep the muck out of the engine compartment...

Front end finalized with grill hoop and mini-stinger. I think it turned out freakin solid, and should be insanely bomb proof.

Seat mounts and final cage crap finished up. Back seat is gonna be a tight ass fit. Gonna have a sticker made for the bar in front of it... "No fat chicks. No big dudes."

Cage out for paint, and back in for finishing up... Three stage candy paint, looks awesome against the gray.

And how's this for a before and after?

It really is crazy how close those too jeeps were, Even funnier when that jeep leaves it will look almost exactly as mine did when it rolled in,, Same size lift, tires etc, It was alot of work we have alot of hours in it And CW did a crazy good job making everthing from design to finish!!It will be on trail next friday afternoon. Nice work. looks good. what is the wheelbase on that? what is your opinion on the rockers? i dont know of any one running them but seem to be a good looking tire...

The only thing to do now is change the steering wheel, blue is not working. But, with a JEEP like that I'd drive it with green w/ pink dots on the wheel.

Will the hard top still work with the cut doors?

Phase one of build done tomorrow, have to weld steering rods and install, then on trail friday morning, pics of it out next week! Two week ride in June coast to coast and then back home for start of phase two, full hydro front four link etc.
