tell me more of this d300 output swap... are you going 32 spl for the front (cuz that will require some machining) or just replacing stock bits... (If that is the case I have an extra stock front output if you need it...)
I know now that I will not be going on this one... (fawk drama) so I would be happy to help if I can...

I have another stock D300 case that I need to swap the front outputs... I was stupid and hacked off BOTH of the shifter ears early on the build... at the time I was pretty dead-set on either cable shifters or air-actuated shifters... not I'm more a fan of keeping as much crap simple as possible.
Though I don't -need- it from you, I'll gladly throw some money or beer at you for it... I'd like to have an extra so I can get it machined for whenever I DO decide to go 32spline. I'm probably going to eventually go to Toyota joints and 32 splines for my front shaft whenever I grenade the 1310 axleshaft/square tube abortion of a driveshaft I made... It takes a beating but I replace the joints for getting loose every time or two out... I guess a 4500ish lb jeep sitting on the front shaft and on the rev limiter will do that that |

Ok peeps. Are you serious about this? And when are we interested in it happening? October or November ? I'm wondering about Nov 6th...Too cold?

i think the Nov date would be good. There seems to be a few things going in Oct that we would have to work around. I don't think it would be to cold in early Nov, unless we go straight from summer into winter. Which we all know here in good ole Cincinnati could happen.
I'll be up for it when ever we decided to do it.

set a date I'm in , after all day at the dealer $$$$$$, alot of head scratching , and some guessing the rig is running great again. I got the 231 swapped in yesterday and all I have to do is make a new cross member and fab up the new front drive shaft. It will be in the woods this week end for test run number 2 ................

I agree that driving it would be cool, but are you/we camping the whole time? The XJ just isn't equipped to tote three days of food, beverages and gear. Robert

it was a combo , computer was frag'd and the fuel spider . What we think was the computer took a crap and slammed #3 so hard it stuck and caused a dead hole ...... went to the dealer with 3 cylinders and came home with five ...... put a new spider in it and it runs great . spent all day in the garage today and got all the loose ends buttoned up and I'm ready .....

I would really like to tag along on this ride, but not as built as most. I think a Friday, Saturday and Sunday run would be fun. The Friday run could be a optional night run, because a lot of people would be getting in at different times.
Are there going to be general guidelines on how built your rig should be. I would kill the road section in my DD TJ, but would need a bypass on the harder stuff off road. |

Initially getting a level of interest but seems like that is there. So now we're working on the specific details (who, what, where, when) but definitely plan on making it feasible for all levels of vehicles (my rig isn't locked).
How about CORE Almostimate Adventure ? :) (Thinking Tshirts and stickers)

After seeing the pictures and videos of the Big Rock ride over Labor Day , I am in for that part of the adventure. I may be limited to a single day, but hope to be part of this. The weekend of Nov. 5-7 was once mentioned. Is that still a go?
Even if I can do Haspin and the Big Rock, I WILL trailer the 3A between sites. My 3A does not have a cruising gear. 35 mph is about my cruising max. This gives me a date to build some rock sliders by. Deadlines can be good. John

Do you really want to be able to abbreviate this subgroup within our community ---> AA? Dunno, maybe that was on purpose??
I dig the CORE UA concept... As a group, we're clearly higher on the trailering quotient than many... and for a variety of reasons (thanks for chiming in John... I can't get enough of that CJ-3a). Completion of the CORE UA should be simple, run what you brung, fix what you break, no trailers, drive the whole thing... HOWEVER, exclusion of all others has never been our thing... if folks want to join in based on an approximate schedule (clearly subject to change) then I say that they are as welcomed to join in to enjoy some wheeling as any other trip... Maybe we just hold the t-shirts/stickers for the finish line?? Just some thoughts to continue the conversation...

I honestly didn't know much about UA til Pater mentioned the idea and we started getting interest. I don't believe we're looking at an event that lays 100% to those rules which is why I tried a play on words to allow us the ability to deviate as we need to make it our own. As well as how competitive we're really gonna make this. I have some ideas and have been working a few angles. But most is up in the air, so anyone interested in this thing feel free to attend our meeting Monday as we will decide a bunch of things regarding this at that time. Sharing one angle: working on getting us onto some private land for the Saturday run so it's a unique experience ...

Are we ready for the 1st CORE Ultimate Adventure? I am! Lets go already! Smurfette will have reverse by then hopefully and the leaves will be on the ground and traction will be awesome plus the scenery will be spectacular as long as a box of Cheez-its is in my hands.

Since I'm kinda new to the area...
How far all all these locations we're planning on going to/from each other? Google maps? November 5-7 should work fine for me... not sure about the Friday event, but Saturday-Sunday should be good to go |
