  • knuckle gussets

anyone have any pics of their homemade knuckle gussets? i'm having a hard time wanting to spend the money on the marlin ones seeing what they are. is there anyway to make them stronger? those don't seem like they would really help all that much. also, what are you guys doing further back on the housing where they are supposed to be thinner and more prone to bending?

      toy axle

Along with knuckle gussets, a fifth stud set up is very important. It gives the knuckle studs much needed support. We have had good luck with just the factory housing truss along with a truss for the links to keep the axle from bending..

I just used a piece of angle iron (for the underside of the axle) and used some cardboard to make a template & cut it up with a slitter wheel. they ended up looking like an arrow before I welded them on. The top side I just made some cardboard templates and made sure the knuckle wouldn't hit them at stop to stop rotation.

I don't know why anyone buys gussets, I always seem to have more time than money.

X2 just make them to not interfere w knuckle turning.. As far as fifth stud, fabricator rob had a goood write up on pbb that i copied and really pleased with results... Ten minites w a zip wheel and ull have gussets and fifth stud complete.

Just tack weld ur bolt inside the knuckle so u aint gotta take apart axle just to take ur arms off.....:o

Thanks, axle is already trussed, and already have 5th stud on the high steer arms. Jsut welded new knuckle balls on the replace the busted ones, and replaced outer knuckles too.

I don't see why anyone would buy gussets too, im just going to make some quick this week. Hoping to get it out next weekend finally b
