So here I am about 7000 miles and a year later. The engine developed a knock that sounded like a rod. I changed the oil for the 3rd time since the cam bearings were fixed and found all kinds of metal in the oil.

Luckily I am able to pull the pan with the engine in the car. I pulled all the rod bearings out and found where the metal was from. Two of them were pretty bad, the rest weren't too bad. There didn't seem to be any damage to the crank. The crank was a .030 under reman, but it measured 2.0670 instead of 2.0700. Basically, he set up the bearings with too much clearance. I figure it's a lil over .003 oil gap. From what I read, I should've be running 10w40 and not 5w30. I ended up just buying new rod bearings and now running 5w40 synthetic oil. I have a few hundred miles on it so far and it sounds good so far. Only time will tell.

I have experienced this before, polished up the crank with it still in the engine. Hopefully you checked the journal every which way possible to make sure it was within limits.
      definitely run different weight oil.
I would stay away from synthetic though, years of dealing with engines and major rebuilds it seemed Synthetic caused more problems than it was supposed to solve.
You will find many people that will agree with me on this especially in big Diesel engines.
No need for a Winch...You just have to make it !!

I did the shoe string trick with some 1500 grit to polish the journals.
I'm sure there are a million stories both ways on regular vs synthetic. There is a reason race teams use it. My van requires synthetic and so does my rzr. Everything else get cheapo oil.

Put about 500 miles on it over the weekend and all seems well. Still no ticking.
