  • Supra-truck Build

The time has come to pull out the old Tired 22r.
147,000 original miles, it has served me well since 2004.
The W56-B Transmission has to go also.
Will be replacing engine with the 3.0 2jzgte VVTI Twin Turbo engine.
    Stock power for this engine
    330 horsepower at 5600 Rpms
    332 torque at 4800 Rpms
Don't know if I will have turbos dailed in or not
Will see how I like it stock, it came with the larger injections to install also, don't know if I will install those either. Will put me around the 450 - 500 hp if I do, doubt I will need it unless I just wanna break more parts.
Will be replacing Transmission with the the Very rare hard to find expensive R151 Turbo Transmission and T-case that was only available in 1986-1987 Turbo 4x4 trucks and 4runners.
With only a few minor upgrades in Transmission these can take 1000+ horsepower without any problems and last forever with any beating you throw at it.
The Turbo t-case comes stock with the much larger stronger 23 spline input.
the rear t-case will be upgraded to 23 spline also with lower chromoly 4.7 competition gears.
    Lots of work to do.
will post up pics as i go.
Would love to say this will be on the trail in 2021 but can't promise.

Doing frame repair upgrades while engine is out,
had to weld in my t-case crossmember last year do too it literally ripping the mounts off of the frame.
Will be going with a different style mount so i have more belly clearance and no more issues or getting hung up on and doing damage.
found a crack in the frame on drivers side not far from the engine mount.
Cut it all out and upgraded to thicker metal. Hopefully I can get all of this stuff done in next week or so.
After that I can start working on the engine before it goes in.

Far from done, got most of the wiring labeled.
taking some of engine apart now to do timing belt and water pump.
Slow progress but better than no progress.

Been working on every chance i get, have rebuilt rear t-case and installed 23 spline chromoly 4.7 to 1 drop in gears, had to slightly grind and modify a little for fitment.
Rebuilt front t-case and installed upgraded 23 spline input shaft.
Currently have my R151 turbo transmission apart and installed upgrades, im Currently waiting on a few bearings for the transmission to go back together.
Engine is still not in truck yet, finishing up on a few things before i drop it in to Make it easier,
Going as fast as i can with what little time i have available.
Doubtful it will be on the trail anytime soon, lots of miscellaneous stuff that will take time that I don't have, if i can get on the trail by mid summer I will be very excited.

Will post up more pics this weekend, should be able to finish up on rerouting a few things in engine bay, have to take winch out and do some clearancing on Winch plate, if I cant get the clearance I need i will have to refab another winch plate in the frame..
That is gonna suck if i have to do it.

Transmission back together finally after waiting on a few remaining bearings, have some sensor bushings on order to fit into 2j so I can use my factory guages, frame was cut out and beefed up to handle more power, have to solder in a resistor to my tach to work correctly going from 4cylinder to 6 cylinder, have to re solder a broken wire in my temp guage that's been broke for a while now.
while guage cluster is out im gonna see if I can somehow fit the computer behind the dash to keep out of the elements. Still have a few wires i have to label better and separate for the install but getting closer.

Going from a wore out 4 banger to a boosted 6 will be a crazy change. Gonna be sweet! Keep plugging away.

Getting closer, preparing to drop in for fitment in next week or so, waiting on a couple more things, after measuring a few things I discovered the winch plate has to come out and it's in there extremely solid so it will be fun to get out.

Looks like I won't be sticking motor in just yet, did some measurements and looks like I can move my front axle 3 inches farther forward for better approach angle. Better and easier to do now with no motor in there. Will take some time but will be worth it.
