Install-H2 tool box
Not really sure if you guys would care that much as I think I am the only Hummer guy here but I thought I would post it anyway.
I got tired of my tool box taking up floor space. Then making noise when heading down the road or trail. So I got a little creative with some waisted space. (Please forgive the Picture Quality I took these with my Blackberry) http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...e/IMG00075.jpg I used my old spare tire mount and got some ideas together http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...e/IMG00077.jpg Had some fun with a wiz wheel http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...e/IMG00079.jpg Built a nice shelf and drilled holes through it and into the spare tire carrier then threaded them. I ran 10 1/4-20 screws and counter sunk them into the wood. Its super strong. http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...e/IMG00080.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...e/IMG00081.jpg I carpeted the self to make it quiet and look nice. Then used turn buckels to mount the tool box. Is a nice good quality box that is ball bearing an built really tite so it makes no noise going down the road. http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...IMG00086-1.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...0008400000.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...0008500000.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...0008400000.jpg |
Nice work, just looks like you lost some more visibility putting it up there. But no more than the stock spare would have taken up. I have to assume you're already SURE it's secure mounting it directly behind your head in the event of a wreck.

Visibility was hardly compromised. Alot less than when the spare tire used to be in the truck. Yes as you can tell I built that thing to make sure that it was very stout to keep it safe.

looks good (for a hummer guy) and i second on the secure part. nice job

Looks good...Like the turn buckel idea.

Very nice... But will that lid open?
I knew the H2s were tall, but that'd suggest a whole heck of a lot of headroom... Robert |
