tire question

does the width of your wheel affect the height of the tire? i have 2 sets of 35's and theres about 1.5" of differance...one sets on 10" wide wheel the other is on 7 or 8"... and the one on the wider wheel is the ones that are shorter..

Rim width does matter a little, but you'll see more difference from brand to brand.

My 35" BFGs are almost a full inch taller (and an inch narrower) than my old Dunlops...

Are all yours the same make?

Yea, what he said....I'd have said make is more of a height difference than width...

RuffedUpXJ 12-04-2009 08:35 AM

I know my worn BFGs are barely 33.5" tall and they are 35's.

It is more of the brand having differnt heights. Just like TV's they are in a "class" of sizes. So your 50" TV could only be 49.6".

one set is the old style buckshot mudders the other set are called bigfoots... do you guys think it would hurt anything to run 2 of the shorter ones on the front and the taller ones on the back,i have a k5 blazer..i also was gonna put the shorter ones on the narrower rims to try to get a little more height

you can try that like you said to get alittle more height to match them and if 4 wheel drive is used on slippery surfaces but if you get on a harder packed surface it will put extra strain on the drivetrain.

An inch difference offroad is tolerable, but as Scott said, keep it in 2wd on the road.

Eh, break it the first few trips out, then you know what to upgrade.

Eventually, you'll get the bugs and weak links worked out of it.

Then you can drive it to work every day for seven years.

Like me. :D

You could also adjust the height with the air pressure.

i was kinda thinking that myself.. i'm gonna put them on wed or thurs i guess...i had to buy new lug nuts for the alum rims and i'm have to put tubes in the buckshots cause they don't wanna seal around the rim or they would of been on all ready...

itbrokeagain 01-15-2010 04:55 PM

Did the tubes work out for you? I put a tube in a tire and it lasted a day before the tube and tire were shot.

cheapthrills49 01-15-2010 05:54 PM

i run tubes in mine, im on my 2nd different set of tires and tubes and never had a problem. i buy Firestone hd tractor tubes from the local tractor joint. i like the thought of being able 2 cut a side wall, or hit a nail or some goofy crap like that, and being able 2 just change a 40 dollar tube
