Finally starting to see the bigger picture now. Pretty much got the frame done. Just need to weld it up and figure out how to do the upper front 4 links. Deciding whether to use the old 4 link brackets I have or cut into the frame and box it like my dads is.

Buggy Build 2.0! We had to totally redesign the tube chassis today, since my dad switched computers and lost the original copy... But this design is similar with some adjustments. Overall width of the chassis is 67” (nerf bar to nerf bar) overall height is 42”. Total weight so far from Bend Tech, 470lbs. Can length is 59” wide to fit a Jeep cowl, and my original hood.

Nice! I think I like this one even better...
Where is the 42" height measured from? Bottom of the framerails, top of the rails, or from the nerf bars? I've been trying to get mine that low, but for reference my XJ is 46" from floor to roof inside, and I don't know if I can shave another four or five inches without hitting my head or stretching my legs straight out in front of me.

It’s been a little while since I’ve updated this thread. So I got the back X/B pillar done, did the front engine bay bars, also added the top V and a middle cross bar. Getting very close to the chassis being fully setup! Just need to weld everything that’s in now all together.

More progress made yesterday. My dad installed the front hoops while I was working. After I got off, we worked together and got the main rear hoop in and added on down bar. Today, I’m sure we will be able to get the other down bar in and work on the tailgate/bed.

Thanks Kevin! More pics to come today. We're pretty close to it being done, minus doing interior stuff.

I just ordered some parts yesterday in order to get the tranny mounted and the axles in.. So, until those come in, I’ll be working on some body work (hood, Cowl and grill). Started yesterday by cutting down the CJ7 cowl. Had to do this because the hood + the cowl would of been way too long for the front of the chassis. While I worked on the cowl, my dad added a X up front to tie the shock hoops in for the leverage of the shocks, when those get mounted.
Today consist of cutting down my hood as well. Overall length of the original CJ7 hood is 39 1/4. I have to cut off 5 inches in order to make it fit on the chassis. Wish me luck! If I screw this up... I’ll be buying a new hood. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The hood cut down, turned out great!! Ended up cutting off little by little to find the right angle on the cowl to match the hood. Man it looks good!

Crazy that your nose will be that short. My hood was stretched 5-6", and I'll be using every bit of that for engine bay space. Your setup will probably make for much better forward visibility. I worry about that some...
It's cool that your hood and cowl are both square enough that you can cut out ten inches (?) and they still line up. Mine are both tapered.

Got a lot done this week/weekend! Got the axle/4link in, shocks mounted, steering wheel mounted, seats mounted, and started on the dash. My dad did a great job at making custom 4 link brackets for the upper links.
More to come this week/weekend. Maybe even start doing the wiring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

May be able to get the jeep on all 4 tires this Friday/Saturday and start the wiring! After the wiring is done we will rebuild the trans, buy some headers, AN fittings for the water pump/lines for the radiator. Then it all comes down to the little things.. like some body panels, mounting the hood/cowl/windshield, etc.

Finally got a oil pan for the 6.0 today. Got this kit (2001 Camaro pan, gasket, and oil pump tube) from AutoZone. This kit runs $330 but luckily I talked them down to $170! Got a smokin’ deal and it even comes with the block off plate! Now time to install it, once I get the Jeep on the lift.

Holy flex wow! So impressed! Now down to the little things that take some time. Wiring, dash, rebuild the trans, gas tank mount, radiator/radiator fan, trans cooler, etc. But we are getting so close! Lots of progress made this week!

Got some things done this past week. My dad made the brake assembly bracket. I made my panels for the interior dash. Now working on mounting the gas pedal, radiator and other stuff this week. Down to the little things! Hopefully next week I can take the transmission over to Kevin to have him rebuild it.
