rail buggy problems

I'm running a 1641 with a 3 rib trans. Runs good. Has nooo bottem end power tho. I just put the 3 rib in and I'm actually really disappointed cause I was told that its a really low torqy trans. But this trans is a turdddd. Un less its somthing else? Compression test was very good too... any one know what would cause it to have no power?

3rib is the lowest geared type 2 trans ... What's done to the motor other than bigger pistons?

Did it run good with a different trans? 1641 isn't going to have a lot of power

Cam, bosch alt. Ported polished heads, double oil filter and deep oil pump., new valves n alll that. Few other mods too. I found out that the shift rod is actually turned sideways and because of that I couldn't get it over into first or reverse. Cracked it loose turned it was it was straight up n down and in neutral tightend it back n now I'm good to go. I was running 3rd n 4th. With that being side. 1st pulls the wheels off the ground. Also the timing was too re-tarded as well.

I was running a 1200 with a car trans b4 I started building the 1641 and bought the 3 rib bus trans so I really didn't know what tot expect. On my other rail I'm running a big 2300 stroker on it with a 6 rib. So I was sure if it it was just me cause I'm use to the stroker. The 1641 is for the wife.

always ran a stock motor with a bugspray carb and headers, 3 rib trans. always dependable, always went every where. Never broke stuff running stock axles too. I like simple and cheap. That was back when you could find bugs laying around and buy them for $100 bucks though...... last century LOL
