Exclamation Bump Stop Questions

ok on spoa and yj's ( SAMURAI) how much up travel should i have before hitting the bump stop? I have heard different numbers 3" , 5" ect... what should it be so i dont bend the springs....

i will have to limit what i have now cus it is about 15" from the bump stop to the axle now on flat ground...

I wouldn't limit the travel by any set number. Definitely limit them by the amount of shock uptravel you have if applicable. But trust me, yer not gonna get 15" of negative arch out of a spring.

If they de-arch, big deal, they will be flexier then. When they get too worn out, replace them. SOA creates great flex, that's the idea behind it. Don't hinder your new found flex with bumpstops...

I set mine up on my toyota truck so the tire will slighty touch the fender. on the front and I dont run any on the back. The only reason I use bump stops is for clearence, Not to limit how far the springs flex. Just my $.02. I havent had any problems with bending spring. I run 5 inch trail-gear on front and 57 inch dodge springs on the back.
