Someone tried to break in the hatch of my xj while I was at Lowes on Ridge today. The metal below the latch was all messed up and now it wont open. Here is the part I like best; The jeep was unlocked. Not a very good thief.

What the heck were you doing in that hood anyway?

You can't quite see my chemical plant from there, but if the wind's right, I bet you could smell it...

Are you sure someone didn't back into it??? Also the back hatches like to freeze shut in weather like this. Someone could have tried to break in and it was froze. Maybe it will open when it thaws.

what year? You may have to take the intereior panel off & pull the linkage from in there to get it open & get it adjusted correctly again.

X2 on someone hitting it in this weather, no idea why they would try to pry instead of just busting the glass, unless they are a really dumb thief.
