Was the H2 on the same platform as the Tahoe?

Its not the same frame as the Tahoe. It's on its own frame. The H2 frame is pretty interesting.

The frame is broken into thirds.

The front third is based on a 2500 Series Truck/Suburban but not completly the same. Its fully boxed and has an extra cross member.

The Middle third is taken from a 3500 Series Truck. Again it is fully boxed and they added additional cross members

The rear third is taken from a 1500 series truck. Again they fully boxed it and added another cross member.

Over all the H2 has 3 more cross members than a Tahoe.

The H2 has a 6inches longer wheelbase than the Tahoe but its overall length is 10 inches shorter The H2 also has a 5 inch wider track. And is 1500# heavier.

So given those numbers its pretty self evident its not sitting on a Tahoe frame.

Its funny how some people swear to me its the same, but the numbers do not lie. I have been under both vehicles and while they have some similarities BUT, they are completely different.

Its funny people say that the H3 and Colorado sit on the same frame. The reality is they do not. Again they are similar but the H3 frame is allot more heavy duty than a Colorado. Again, fully boxed as opposed to C channel and more cross members, wider track longer wheel base etc...

Really what people do not realize is that the While the Hummer line up did used some parts out of the GM bin the parts that really mattered were Hummer specific. Like Axles, transfer cases etc..

That's cool. I only know a couple people with the H2 and honestly, they wouldn't have known the difference. That was always the rumor and now I now, "the rest of the story" (PH). Hate to see the company fall, the entire industry is doomed.

I really hope not. Its going to take a TON of innovation to get any real 4x4 to pass Barry's new CAFE standards. Jeep is going to have a ton of work to do. I think the immediate answer to meet the CAFE standards is Diesel everything.
