305 carb to tpi

Alright ill ask here before I make an account on thirdgen.
I have a 1990 camaro with an tired old 305. I have found a decent deal on a mild built fresh 305.
The only problem is I want to keep my fuel injection setup.
Can I just take all the tpi stuff off the motor thats in it now and throw on the carbbed motor and go or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks for those help.
Before everyone tells me to get a 350 Im just throwing this out there, This is my daily driver and not a race car nor am I expecting it to be just figured since the deal is there I may get it.

I'm pretty sure the intake bolt holes are drilled at a different angle in the heads. On a carb intake you can enlarge the holes to make it work, not sure on TPI. I think the best move would be to use the heads off of the TPI motor.

Carb vs tpi makes no difference on the intake to head mounting points. The difference lies in the age of the heads. Older style heads will have valve covers that bolt on the perimeter with 4 bolts. Newer style heads will have valve cover bolts in the center of the valve cover. If your current motor and donor motor have the same valve covers you're good to go.

The newer style intake can be adapted to the older style heads with some simple hole clearancing with no issues I have heard. But I cannot confirm this personally.

That's right. I forgot about those mid 80's carb-with-center bolt valve cover engines.

Alright the built 305 is coming off an 82 camaro.
So it should be a fairly simple swap.
It is bored .40 over, flat top pistons, street/strip cam, shorty headers.
I will be buying it for 300 withouht the carb and intake.
Seems like a decent deal?

Make sure you can hear it run before buying it. If the exhaust is off it, look in and see if you can see how oil covered the valves etc are.... But for a good built motor, that's not a bad price.

You need to have 20 PSI for the map sensor for the ECM. Other than that, should be good. The CAM is going to affect Vacuum PSI for sure.

I used (Sons Jeep) a 1978 Block .030 over with newer heads, flat top piston (12:1), stock cam, modified the wiring harness with stock ECM and no problems at all. Mine is a 350...tons of power for a jeep!

Break the 32" tires free rolling in second gear and punching it!
