George is talking about the gravel road right next to the camping area, it's not as wet there if there is rain.... However there is alot of traffic with people wanting to fly through there all day and all hours of the night..Maybe it would be better if we were able to camp by the shower house if camping is too wet.... if its not too bad it would prefer the camping area, they have all the firewood you can burn right there... makes it nice...just a thought

I second the camping in the actual camping area (other side of the creek from the main gravel rd). I'm camping in that area regardless of where the rest of the group decides to camp. You are not supposed to camp in the gravel lot, we have been told to move when camping there in the past.
The lot by the bathhouse in town is horrible for tent campers. There are so many lights on all night that you can't sleep. Plus it most likely requires advanced reservations on busy weekends. My two cents. Jim |

My plan is to camp in the exact same spot as last year.

Harlan is getting a ton of rain this week, and more next week. We'll be lucky if it doesn't rain while we're down there. There's no way I will be able to park where we camped last year. Unless you have a 4x4, I doubt you will make it. Pitching a tent in the mud sounds fun.
They complained about Tim parking his big rig on the gravel lot, no so much about us camping there next to our trucks. Somebody always camps on the gravel. As long as it's not dusty, it isn't bad. The campground where the showers are is first come, first served, no reservations. But like Jim said, it's lit up all around there. I don't think our group would fit there anyway. Personally, I don't want to camp in the mud all weekend if I don't have to. |
