Where to buy gun powder......
My dad got a really good deal on a civil war cannon. We want to fire it....... any ideas where I can buy a few pounds of gun powder? Apparently it takes a pound per shot

I believe it takes special cannon grade powder which is very coarse to control burn rate , GOEX sells it. What are you thinking of using as a projectile substitute?

Do you have to have a projectile? I was thinking pack it and light it. Maybe fruit if necessary?

It takes something pretty tightly packed in for the cannon to go boom not just a big flash of powder burning without generating any pressure. The reenactment guys use peat moss plugs for a big boom and lots a smoke. It is still super dangerous though..
