cavalcade of customs

went there last night. going again today, taking my nephews. some nice cars, thats for sure. Was way overkill on the 32 coups and roadsters, though. probably 50-60 of them, all starting to look alike at the end. kinda like a trail ride full of red tj's on 33's.
hoping to see more offroad stuff there. dident see sunfire there this year, and no roy from performance off road to explain how he is personally responsable for inventing four wheel drive.(darn, lol). hilltop has a booth with their 2 seat buggy. and there is a lot of bug's and dune buggies there. and a wrangler on 49's thats never seen mud. what got me is a old school chevy (79?) show truck. looked left over from the 80's car shows, complete with splatter paint on the driveshafts, oiled up swampers, and the old "go rhino" axle trusses. it was actually so cheesy that it was cool, kinda like some 1985 fashions that are coming back.
still worth going. especially if you like 32 roadsters.....

I went tonight. Yea, lots of 32's.

I especially liked the "survivors alley" with all the rat rods and drag cars. Did you see the VW bug rat rod? Crazy. ANd that 32 with the 22's?

Now I want to build a rat rod :)

yeah, that slammed vw bug was really cool, front axle extended about 18 inches, the roof only came to my waist. lot of rat rods, many authentic, but some had the painted on patina and rust. cant say i appreciate a fake poser as much as as the real thing. and no way i was waiting an hour to meet chip foose, though. good time though

When I replaced my frame and scrapped it, I went to the swap meet and the frames they were trying to sell were worse than mine. Maybe he used a dimple die to lighten the frame with holes.

I looked at the notorious passengers side rear frame at the point of the bend and saw big holes and then noticed the see through spots on the drivers side rear as well. That jeep has good potential but needs some time put in it. The mack semi and diesel dragster were a new favorite of mine.

Some pretty neat looking vehicles down there for sure. The scary one for me was the 80s Chevy pickup with the multi-colored paint right behind the Jeep. It had lift blocks stacked on each other in the rear and had lift blocks on the front axle as well. All that time and money put into that truck and they cut corners on things that make it safe to drive. Didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
