Shawn driving an XJ now... cool.
Crawford has pulled a front shaft before... you need longer yokes, brother. What did Brody end up doing with the sheared kingpin cap bolts? Enough left to get them out? Did that muck up the balanced (dual) cylinder steering? At least Bear didn't roll... again.

Well I think Brody got some bolts to put in there and limped it back to camp. they all pulled into camp after we did. We had to pull Bo out after he broke his rear U-joint strap bolts

Jeff and I made a mad dash back to camp and picked up a spare tie rod with hiems, that Doug had in the back of his truck. found some big bolts and nuts and put conventional steering on the front of Brody's rig and very carefully drove it back to camp. Brody broke in the first set of shoots just after the split to school bus on the main trail ( going toward pink rock ) . I'll try to get a full report of at least our group up tonight sometime. The livingston trip from my view started off, 1trailer tire blown before I even reached 275 on 75s. I had my driveshaft extend 2 far on sun. and come apart also. tried to climb a vertical wall and my fromt wheels were over but the rear of my skid plate hit i pushed in on the clutch and the front end unloaded. tried BIG WALLY with no luck, I carried the front wheel to the bottom.I tried pink rock again and made it this time unlike my last try where I tried to empty the bed of my runner. Some of the trails have seem to have become easier or nature has something to do with it!
We will need to find a new place to camp again! The owner sold the land to the Goverment and there is no motor vehicle traffic allowed in the field but you can set tents up! The ranger says we can set up on the 49 side but the first mile up is private owned. They also said with no time frame that they will be improving on the road up to the grave yard and all trails/roads to the left and right will be shut down to re-seed nature. |

i had to work on sunday. i was off on saturday, but rather than go down for a few hours of immeidate gratification,i decided to stay home and work on this so that we can all go down and play on the rocks: it will hopefully haul a cj,a scout II,and a trooper down to KY on its maiden voyage.i made sure it wouldnt have any clearance issues with daves truck, since its the only thing the 3 of us own with the balls to pull it Quote:
scott,i heard about your accident-ouch! im going to move the big trailer and move the scout out of the yard this week so its not trapped. i should be able to make it next trip yall go on. hopefully youre able to wheel again soon

OK I think I finally have time to start a little recap ----
I rolled out of the drive at 2:00 pm Friday with my buddy Jon following behind us . made it to Crittenton (sp?) and I blew a trailer tire  , short stop to put spare on and got past by Brody , we stopped at a Wally world and got a new tire and then put the hammer down . we rolled into camp around 6:00 and waiting on us was Brody , Shawn and Kelly . we had the kids running brody's massive 20" bushhog clearing the tall grass. We set camp up and waited for Bear, and a few others to show and then gathered a group up for a run. We headed down the main trail towards pink rock , got to the bottom of the stair steps and a TG ( friend of Bear ) in a CJ had a melt down and lost his head lights. We hard wired the lights and rolled on . half way up transmission the same CJ twisted a steering link . We made a quick fix and headed back for camp . On the way back to camp we ran into the Yota group . While the rest of the group headed for camp I turned around and took the yota's on to Pink Rock and then back . We came up on the CJ broke and found that the group had gone back to camp to get some parts off of Jon's YJ to get the CJ off the trail. We all waited for the group to get back to the CJ and then all headed for camp for the night. Sat. morning everyone got a good early start , I rolled out in the second group ( Jeff S. , Brody , Bear , Jon , Ryan C. , Eric ) we headed down Falcons Ridge to the play ground where we ran into the rest of the group. We all left the play ground and took the creek trail out , Shawn ended up breaking off to go meet his brother and we continued on . We ended up heading for School bus and then trying to find the lake ( which we never did ) just before the lake Brody lost his clutch so we headed for camp for repairs. Once back at camp Brody headed for the parts store and everyone got some food in their belly's . I headed into town for fuel ( YES I ran an entire tank out in two runs)---- I think I put over 100 miles on the Jeep on this trip After belly's were full and Brody had a clutch we headed back out for Triple T and then to Pink rock , once there we dropped down to the 49er so Brody and Jeff could get some fuel and then played on pink rock for a while before heading back to camp . On the way back Brody decided to goto school bus instead and got lost , Jeff and I loaded up to go fetch but just as we did we got a call from Brody and talked him back to camp. Sunday morning we all headed for the Water falls and a few of us washed the funk off . From there we headed back up to the main trail to go play on the big shoots. We got to the smaller shoots and started playing and Brody ended up breaking . I think most of us in the group were kind of glad that someone broke ( not that we wanted anyone to break ) but we were completely spent , we put a band aid on brody's rig and headed for camp to call the trip a success. The trip was great , very little carnage and ALOT of ground traveled , This was the first trip out on the rocks for my new set up and I have to say I was very impressed and at this point I haven't found any damage I know I'm missing alot of details but I'm sure they will be covered on Monday at the meeting. |

I was also able to follow my group up every trail except one, and then i broke a strap on my rear u-joint on the last run and George had to hook up the strap to help me over in a few places, but i returned to camp under my own power. George,Jeff P. Jim and the rest of our group did well over 100 miles of wheeling.(Hay Sarge, we found the lake) where we went swimming and cooled of a little. This was the best C.O.R.E. run i have been on. A few more mods on the XJ and it will have to get even better. Great Ride, Thanks Guys.
