Scrap steel?

Anyone know anywhere local that would have angle iron scrap in the neighborhood of 5"x3"x3/16" ? Only thing I have been able to find was a place that would cut to length and the retail price was way higher than what people have told me they have found it for.

Check out Metal Supermarket in Tri-County. They are a bit pricey but they will cut it to exactly the length you need.

Or you can check the cut-offs/remnants at American Metal Supply in Blue Ash. I think they have a minimum buy of $25 and its based by pound, if I remember correctly it was in the neighborhood of $0.45/lb for steel. I don't think they priced hot roll different from cold roll. Stainless was more expensive. But they typically have a good selection and at usable lengths.

Hirschberg in Lockland has shorts and they are just that short pieces of steel, nothing more than a few inches in length. There stuff is basically
whatever is on the floor is a short.

I know the sears hardware in Fairfield/Hamilton on rt 4 has a little section for steel. Not sure if its what your looking for or if other Sears hardware stores have the same.

How long you need and would 1/4" work?

American Metal Supply is your best bet. I would possibly call and see if they have that size in for a drop, cut piece.

1/4" would work too...I am looking at roughly 5' pieces to build rock sliders for a YJ.

They have a huge drop steel inventory, and pretty cheap to boot.
