forklift tank question

I have a allmost new 10 gallon forklift tank that when it is in closed position and i try to screw on hose it sprays propane all over.is there anything i can do to stop this or is there anyplace i can exchange or get fixed locally?I really want a 8 gallon because the 10 gallon is to big for jeep if any one is interested in trading when fixed.

if i dont screw hose onto tank fast mine does that, so i wear glove and keep screwing it on. if it aluminum i could trade u a 8 gal aluminun

It dose not do it with the two eight gallon tanks at all just the ten gallon
